In the summer of 2023, I said goodbye to my best friend. Buddy was a golden retriever with a heart bigger than his appetite for tennis balls. He had been by my side for fourteen years. Through moves, heartbreaks, late nights, and lazy Sunday mornings, he was there. Always there. When he passed, the silence in my apartment was deafening.
I had hundreds of photos of Buddy. Blurry ones from my old phone. Silly ones mid-yawn. A few where he actually looked at the camera instead of chasing squirrels. But when I tried to frame one for my living room, nothing felt right. These snapshots captured moments, but they didn't capture him. His warmth. His ridiculous confidence.
